Welcome to Austin Godber’s Homepage
Welcome
Welcome to my website. My name is Austin Godber. I have a bachelors in Physics from Arizona State University. I am a Linux geek by day ... and not surprisingly a linux geek by night. I have worked for a DARPA sponsored computer security project, helped start a Municipal WiFi company, assisted NASA's Mars Spaceflight Facility in surviving the Slashdot effect and am now wrangling virtual penguins for JumpBox.

I decided to finally abandon the Original Uberhip home page and move my personal site to the root of uberhip.com. So, there will be no further updates here (this was a really lame and unmanagable custom PHP template I wrote anyway, so good riddance). Check out http://uberhip.com/
I finally actually own the Uberhip domain so there will be no more waffling. Uberhip.com is my official home on the web. I will still keep godber.org for family things and my other domains as long as I see fit.
I can't say that you wont find any new material here, but I am starting up a new web page. Anyone who has looked at this page since its last modification would notice that nothing has happened here for quite some time. I have been exceptionally busy with all of these things and have decided to try to use a more convenient web framework.
Please check out Austin's Alternative Webpage.
Now-a-days every business should have a web page, even if it is a simple page that marks its home on the internet. I have finally put up a webpage for my parents business. For all of your Native American and Turquoise Jewelry needs, please visit Godber's Jewelry.
This August, I decided to say goodbye to my good friends at CGCC
and take a job at the Mars Space Flight Facility back at
Arizona State University. I am a Tech Support Analyst, SR
and run a few hundred linux machines with supporting systems, a 100 node dual processor cluster
and help manage about 45TB of data. The image to the left is from one of our instruments orbiting
Mars. This instrument is called THEMIS. So far the job has been
quite enjoyable.

Hey look!, I got married! Check my CGCC Page for the details of my Vegas wedding!
This fall, I spent my spare time deploying an outdoor wireless mesh network in downtown Tempe. Creating WAZTempe the first metropolitan wireless network for the WAZAlliance which was purchased by another company and called WAZMetro. This was an interesting experience and while I wasn't the brains behind the idea, I certainly was the best looking.
In August 2004, after spending some time doing IT contracting, I began a full time position at Chandler Gilbert Community College. I had an e-portfolio page there. Click here to see my eport page
I am now available for work. I am looking for software engineering, network security or system administration positions. Here is my Software Engineering Resume, System Administration Resume, Network Secturiy Resume.
Hello World! I am officially looking for employment. Here is my Systems Administrator Resume (removed, see above). A Network Security and Software Engineer Resume are in the works.
I thought it was worth mentioning that my primary website layout uses no tables for layout purposes (there may be tables in legacy pages). All of the layout is handled using CSS.
A really good resource for XHTML and CSS is WebReference.com
I have finally released a redesign of my webpage. I have made several attempts to date. I have tried two PHP based template systems to avoid complexity, but still was unsatisfied. Hopefully this XHTML based design will be clean and flexible enough to please me.
While I am working on this page you might follow the link below to copy of the older page. Many links are likely to not work for a while.
Do you have some strange longing for my old page? Perhaps its nostalgia, perhaps you are incapable of dealing with change. Either way, the old page is still available here in all its retro glory.
Actually, this site is likely to be under some contruction for a while, so if you are looking for something that was on the older page it should still be there. However, all of the old stuff will somehow be incorporated into this new page eventually.
Note to Internet Explorer users on Windows, your browser may not correctly display this image. It should have a nice drop shadow effect without the white background. Consider trying an alternate browser. I suggest Mozilla Firebird, since it also blocks popup windows and has tabbed browsing. Read what w3.org has to say about PNG vs GIF.
